Vandalism

 I walked through hell 

Glided through bliss 

Psyche split in two 

Knew I was headed into my future 

But doing so meant leaving you 

Always at my strongest amongst conflict 

The fight is part of my dna 

It’s always interesting meeting the new me 

Blossoming 

Shifting 

Torn away from comfort

Exposed 

Like ice melting in the sun 

I seek shade 

Reprieve

The damage you’ve done to my soul, not irreparable 

The vandalism of my heart, another story

All together 

I may walk in the shadow of who I was forever 

Unable to recapture that feeling of simplicity 

But I’ll do it with my head held high 

Knowing I didn’t settle

I’m one of the wild horses

No matter how tempting the apple is

For what was Adam’s fall 

No longer occupies my interest
